Today is kind of yucky...very warm for the season and south to southwest winds increasing to around 40 to 45 mph. Gusts are reported to possibly exceed 55 mph. during the afternoon! Though it's not cold, it seems cold with the bluster of the wind.
The change in the weather has put a cramp in my enthusiasm to continue with the house cleaning/Christmas decorating....which, sometimes it takes a whole lot less to do that!
I wanted to make a new post and I'm not really in the mood to be creative enough to do that!
I decided that we would have a little weekend Sunday School lesson. A friend gave me the neatest book a couple of years ago...."The Complete Book of Bible Trivia" by J. Stephen Lang.
For those of you who leave comments and would like to participate, GO FOR IT! (If there is no participation, I'll know not to try this again!)

Our first lesson is EVERYDAY PHRASES FROM THE BIBLE. Identify the book and, if possible, the chapter and verse where these commonly used phrases originated. (I don't consider it cheating if you use your Bible's concordance/index, or whatever you need to find the answer. Some of you may even use google search and come up with the answers!) Answers will be posted Monday morning!
1. The skin of my teeth
2. Wolf in sheep's clothing
3. Salt of the earth
4. Holier than thou
5. Woe is me!
6: Can a leopard change his spots?
7. A drop in a bucket
8. Eat, drink, and be merry
9. Pride goeth before a fall
10.Give up the ghost
Have a good researching time!

Inspired I just read #10 & that's what I did. God Bless
Happy Sunday everybody. I hope you have better weather where you are then we do here in New York where it’s snowing and windy and it’s the coldest day of the year so far...20 degrees. with a wind chill factor of 13 degrees.
Stay warm and pass the Hot Toddy. ...I like mine with Tequila, Kahlua , a bit of Tuaca, and coffee.
1. The skin of my teeth
Job 19:20 My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
2. Wolf in sheep's clothing
Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (mind you, it’s not exactly the same!)
3. Salt of the earth
Mat 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
4. Holier than thou
Isa 65:5 Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These [are] a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.
5. Woe is me!
Psa 120:5 Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, [that] I dwell in the tents of Kedar!
Isa 6:5 Then said I, Woe [is] me! for I am undone; because I [am] a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Jer 4:31 For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, [and] the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, [that] bewaileth herself, [that] spreadeth her hands, [saying], Woe [is] me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.
Jer 10:19 Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly this [is] a grief, and I must bear it.
Jer 15:10 Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; [yet] every one of them doth curse me.
Jer 45:3 Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the LORD hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.
Mic 7:1 Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: [there is] no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.
1Cr 9:16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
6: Can a leopard change his spots?
Jer 13:23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? [then] may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.
7. A drop in a bucket
Isa 40:15 Behold, the nations [are] as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
8. Eat, drink, and be merry
Ecc 8:15 Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.
Luk 12:19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, [and] be merry.
9. Pride goeth before a fall
Pro 16:18 Pride [goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
10.Give up the ghost ( I really expected this to be in the New Testament. Sheesh!)
Job 3:11 Why died I not from the womb? [why] did I [not] give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?
Job 13:19 Who [is] he [that] will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.
This was fun and a learning - relearning - experience. Thanks!
