Back To Business

I have finally resolved my computer problems! Now, it's time to get back to the business of the day...writing about my favorite place...my hometown, Munday, Texas.

One might get the idea that I think my hometown is a perfect Utopia. That is far from true. There are many problems in our little community. But, having roots in your birthplace, is much the same as having family ties. You don't give up, throw away, or move afar. You stick together, working to make lives better and richer....not richer in a monetary sense but richer in heritage and spiritual values. There have been times that I've been sorely disappointed since my return seven years ago. I've been disappointed in the rampant apathy of many of our citizens. The absence of enthusiasm has reared its ugly face in our school, in our churches, and in our civic organizations. But, thanks be to God, there are those that still care. They care enough that changes can be made and lives will be fuller. There are small groups working on various projects all over the county that will make a difference.

Events that are up- coming of which I will be writing are a benefit dinner for a cancer patient, our annual Quilt Show, our Centennial celebration, and the Relay for Life. Of course, life goes on between the events and I'll be sharing that also.

God Bless!

Blest be the tie that binds
Our hearts in Christian love;
The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like to that above.

Before our Father’s throne
We pour our ardent prayers;
Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one
Our comforts and our cares.

We share each other’s woes,
Our mutual burdens bear;
And often for each other flows
The sympathizing tear.

When we asunder part,
It gives us inward pain;
But we shall still be joined in heart,
And hope to meet again.

This glorious hope revives
Our courage by the way;
While each in expectation lives,
And longs to see the day.

From sorrow, toil and pain,
And sin, we shall be free,
And perfect love and friendship reign
Through all eternity.
