On Sunday afternoon, February 12, we once again had the pleasure of "being entertained". A group called "The Imitation Stats" performed at a neighboring county town, Knox City...just 12 miles west of Munday. The Stats graciously volunteered their program with the proceeds going toward the Knox County Museum Building Fund, "The Wichita-Brazos Museum and Cultural Center.
The group is comprised of local men who love to sing and, apparently, love the music of the Statler Brothers. They are difficult to book for performances due to their careers which cover a wide range.... a police department school resource officer, director of the high school band, manager of a grain elevator, farmer and auctioneer, and a physical therapist. The band is just as versatile as the singers.
Their program is done in the true style of the Statler Brothers. Their opening number just happens to be one of my personal favorites, "I'll Go To My Grave Loving You"! Later, in the program, another of my favorites, "The Class of '57 Had Its Dreams". But, midway in their program they did a spine-tingling rendition of "How Great Thou Art".

In the words of the editor of our local paper, The Courier, "they may be called the "Imitation Stats" but the musicianship and showmanship is completely professional". Our thanks to this dedicated group for an inspiring afternoon!
