The DQ is the place to go here in Munday. Not only can you get a meal, but you can hear unbelievable stories! I’ve always heard that “truth is stranger than fiction” and today I found this to be a valid statement. A friend and I went to have lunch and visitation today at noon. She is a relatively new friend and visits with her have been limited. But I’ve known for several months that this is a person that I want to know better. She is vivacious, friendly, knowledgeable and so much fun to be around.
As we were eating our lunch of Chicken Taco Salad and iced tea (trying to become “willowy“ in stature) , she told me a story that is one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard! And, she has such a way with words that it made the telling of it even funnier!
I didn’t say a word….I couldn’t. All I could do was sit there and laugh!! She was on a roll!! One of the funniest stories that I’ve ever heard came tumbling out of her mouth!
By this time, I thought, “forget this salad”! We need a Blizzard to finish this off!
As the story got even better I was thinking….“maybe we need another Blizzard!” (but, I was still thinking “willowy”, and passed up the second one.)
As the story got even better I was thinking….“maybe we need another Blizzard!” (but, I was still thinking “willowy”, and passed up the second one.)
I missed much of the story because I was laughing so hard! There are those that believe that nothing ever happens in Munday, Texas that could ever be fun or humorous! And granted, sometimes you have to look for it. But there are those rare times when it’s just handed to you on a silver platter and it’s there just for the pleasure of lapping it up! As another couple was leaving, the man said to his wife…”Those two are having way too much fun!!”
I have acquired a treasured friend and, as far as I know…I’m the only one in Munday who knows the story besides the story teller! That makes me special doesn’t it?
Now that I have your attention, may I remind you of something that everyone should remember:
Proverbs 17:28
“Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue.”

God bless until next post. And, remember to hold your tongue!!

Mr. Anonymous is our friend from the deep, piney, woods of East Texas! We love him dearly and he's always trying to get a heated debate going. Sent his wife an e-mail just this morning, telling her that we were praying for God's help to keep him in line!
They are dear, dear people...a couple of our most valued friends.
