Earlier in the day, I had e-mailed a friend about the meeting and complained that I was growing a ‘shelf’ across my lower back. I’ve just noticed in the past two or three weeks that my knit shirts ride up in the back and ‘hang’ on the shelf. Does anybody out there know what I mean???
This is the reply I received:
"That shelf you are talking about is called a "Fajita" in Spanish. Fajita means girt or band around the stomach area. That is where the original Fajita came from. The Ranchers would butcher a beef and give that, tough stringy meat, plus the scraps and left-overs to the Mexicans. They would pound it until it was tender, boil it until it was more tender, then fry it with chilies, onions bell peppers, tomatoes and lots of hot sauce on a tortilla. Later the Americanos picked up on the idea and started using chicken.
So…your shirt is hanging on your "Fajita"...."
I quickly messaged in return saying:
Where in the world did you get this information???? (just wait until I share this little bit of info with the other shelved ladies!!)...
The reply to that was:
“Tell them all about it, it is true! Just look up the word Fajita on Ask.com.”
Now, I ask you. Is this truth or fiction? Just to check it out, I did go to ask.com but didn’t find out anything other than finding a lot of fajita recipes.
If anyone knows anything about that meaning of “fajita”, please comment!!
In the meantime, I think I’ll have a bowl of Blue Bell Ice Cream!
