Didn't I say a couple of posts past that "things just aren't the same as they were when I was young"? Yes...I believe that's what I said.

Young parents!

Babies!
And finally, the finale of the day! Sixth graders and their final walk through the hallowed halls of Elementary School! I wasn't thinking about taking their pictures 'on the move' and didn't have the correct setting on my camera! (Duh!) The pictures are blurry so 'what you see is what you get!'

Yesterday was the last day of school for the elementary grades. As the students were dismissed, the 'big' sixth graders were held until the very last. Sometime during the past years, it has become the tradition for the sixth grade, moving to Jr. High in another building, to make a final walk through the elementary halls.
We were invited to go to this 'event'. I didn't realize what a big deal this was going to be!
Parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters, brothers, teachers, grandparents, and whoever else wanted to drop by, lined the main hall of the elementary school.

Young parents!
More parents!

Babies!
Grandparents!

We wish all the 6th graders a good summer! This fall, they will long longer be little kids. All of a sudden, they're going to be next to grown!
But, for a while...they're going to still be 'our kids'. Though we've had a very cool beginning to summer vacation, one day soon it is going to be H-O-T! I'm reminded of another J.T. Stepanek poem...
Sticking Around
Today is only the second
Day of summer, and already
I am a Humid-Being.
My clothes are sticking to me,
And I am sticking to my clothes,
And my clothes and I are both
Sticking to the seats and grass.
And just about everything is sticking
To everything else, because the
Summer season is finally here again.
Well, I guess I better be
Sticking a popsicle in my mouth
And then sticking myself into a pool.
Aaaaahhhhhh...
Summer's sticking around for a few months,
And that's okay!
