Not, "The Way We Were"!

Way back in 1973, a Streisand/Redford movie was released called "The Way We Were"...what is nowadays referred to as a 'chic-flick'. Both Streisand and Redford have lost their appeal to me mainly because of their erratic, idiotic, politcal banter; neither knowing what they're talking about. But putting all that aside, the song "The Way We Were" was a beautiful song.

Memories light the corners of my mind.

Misty water color memories of the way we were.

Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind.

Smiles we gave to one another for the way we were.

Can it be that it was all so simple then,

Or has time rewritten every line?

If we had the chance to do it all again,tell me, Would we? Could we?

Memories may be beautiful, and yet,

What's too painful to remember

We simply choose to forget.

So it's the laughter we will remember,

When ever we remember the way we were,

The way we were.

I thought about that song today as I stepped out into the front yard and looked across the street. This big, long limosine was parked across the street.

I remembered! Tonight is Prom Night!! and little Lizzie is a Senior! Well...Little Lizzie isn't so little anymore. She's all grown up and ready to 'take the tiger by the tail'. Not to dampen her spirit and enthusiasm but I hope she has her 'dragon skin' packed in her suitcase!

In June, my graduating class will observe it's 50th anniversary. These pictures definitely do not depict "The Way We Were".

I just wonder how Lizzie's daughter of the future will go to her Senior Prom? I hope I'm around to see it. Anticipation....anticipation....seems like there ought to be a song in there someplace!
