Why I Blog...

I ask myself, “Why am I blogging”?

It's not a normal activity for people my age. My friends don't blog. They don't even read blogs of other people. Most of them don't even have computers. You say the word “blog” and they look at you like you've said “blob” or else, some obscene word...and, they roll their eyes and look away.

My life is one of living in small town, USA, as a retired school teacher. Our town suffers the same malady as small towns across the country..just staying alive and being passed over by modern technology. There's not much that goes on to write about except just existing, from one day to another.

On the other hand, I read other blogs which people write....about NOTHING! But they have such an interesting and unique way of writing about nothing...everything from “how to change a light bulb” to “buying sunvisors for a gift”(which I've read just this morning! makes you wonder "what the heck they're talking about!" LOL) If I were an envying person, I would envy
DD and Wife Wednesday for their fun, unique method of writing.

I guess the secret is in one's ability to write and to generate unique ways of expressing themselves. And, most bloggers are young with young, active minds with few inhibitions in their writing.

So....WHY do I blog? In August, 2005, my sister who lives in Spanaway, Washington, sent me a post of a blogger who had posted an entry about her business with a picture. This blogger, Roderick Graciano, is associated with a Christian ministry in Tacoma, Washington. His blog “Walking Tacoma” was an inspiration to me. He is so concerned about the spiritual welfare of his city that he began to walk the streets of that city, praying as he walked. He is an excellent photographer and posts pictures of his trek. He's still walking and I'm still following him every step of the way.

At the time I first read the first post, I thought “My gosh! I could do that in our little town” So...I began a trek of my own. I was religious about walking for several months, and then due to one thing and another, I was interrupted. I have never gotten back to a daily walk, or even a weekly walk, but still hold the desire in my heart. But, I've never stopped praying for our little town.

Therefore the reason I blog is because of being inspired by Roderick Graciano of Tacoma, Washington and, equal credit has to go to my sister for sending me the post.

I guess all this brings me to another question. “Why do I want to coninue?” If you follow a person's blog long enough, that person becomes a real and intimate relationship. You become involved in their lives...good and bad, just like the friends I have right here at home. You become acquainted with them through commenting back and forth. I may never know their real names...everyone uses a unique blogger name, but I'll always know them by the name they use to post their entries...Just as I am
In_spired.

Some one forgot to tell me that I was supposed to use a blogger name ... is it too late to change it?

Hey I just got 89% on your bible quiz ... my best one ever. Only missed how tall Goliath was ... I went with 10 cubits and a span instead of 6 and a span.

If you changed it, you would lose all your readers! Better hang on to it!

You're only the second person that has commented on the bible quiz! The other is S-I-L, who I often post about. He always forwards his answers to and always does well, also!!

Thanks for commenting about it. I've been debating about removing it.

I was motivated by Mike and sis Donna then i started to post something in blogspot. Now my mother-in-law is ready to have her own blog soon. She is at your age. It's good that we always try new things. That means we are still very young, very active, aren't we?

I will leave here at the end of September. Mike will go to take me home in November. haha

I was a school teacher for over 10 years. I still keep in touch with some student friends.

Ter...I've taken some of the quizzes myself and have FAILED!! The main thing for me is just to REMEMBER what I don't know..and, believe me, that's a challenge in itself!

(I'll probably remove the quiz in a few weeks...whenever the mood strikes)
