a scenario

Daughter I said, "Hey mom, have you heard the latest political scuttlebutt?"

Mom: "What's the scoop now?"

Daughter I: "If Rudy is nominated for the GOP presidential candidate, he's going to ask our governor to be his running mate." (granted, there has been a lot of publicity about Perry endorsing Rudy)

Mom: "You've got to be kidding!"

Daughter 1: "Yep. Perry's whole political career has hinged on "being in the right place at the right time" and I guess he's still being in the right place at the right time. He hasn't done anything bad, to speak of...he just hasn't done anything!"

Mom: " Well...I guess it could be worse."

Daughter 1: "Mom!! Picture this scenario:

Rudy is nominated.

Rudy names Perry as his running mate.

Rudy wins the Presidential election.

Rudy dies in office.

Now.....who becomes President of the United States?"

Ooooops! Maybe I was wrong.

Good afternoon from Burning Southern California. Good post and good scenario. Only problem is this: Rudy is NOT going to be nominated and Gov Perry is not going to be the running mate for the GOP nominee. WHO then? Well, here we go again, the GOP nominee will be Mitt Romney and his running mate will be Mike Huckabee. The Romney/Huckabee duo will face and beat the DEM duo of Edwards/Richardson. Of course, this is all from my crystal ball, and my crystal ball is by no means perfect! Have a fin Texas evening.

Don't listen to CFS on this one. Rudy will be the nominee, but Perry won't be the running mate. Texas is too Red a state. In other words, Texas is a safe state with it's electoral votes already locked up for the Republican party. Rudy's running mate will come from a battle ground state like Florida or Ohio ... or he might try to put California into play by selecting someone from that State.

cfs and pc:

I *knew* this post would get a reaction from you both!! Daughter and I got a good laugh from this scenario...thinking of the possibility of 'do-nothing' Perry becoming president by default.

You guys are so funny in interaction with each other and are probably as serious as a 'heart attack'.

Thanks for being good teachers. Don't give up on the student! (lol)

I'm glad you all have lock on the election. I for one, have no idea who will get the nod. I do however tend to lean toward Thompson. Don't ask me why, I think it is his laid back demeanor. and I like what he says. He does not elaborate and flower up his remarks,,,I think we could do worse. I do not like anyone messing with human life, to me that is left to God to decide who should live and who should die. I also believe that the body is God's temple and you should not defile it. Old fundimental thinking? probably,,,I also am sceptical of what secrets linger in the Temple...(Utah) and apostles in Utah. I don't know, I also do not trust people who misread the constitution and bill of rights. That and "If you don't like a law well, make a new one even if it flies in the face of the Federal Government with it's laws already on the books...Just my thoughts......I ramble. stay well..Prayers to you and yours LRB....

I guess Rudy is down to Rick Perry now. He asked me to be his running mate last week. "I'm not a member of a political party, Rudy," I said. "Besides, I hate funerals."

Crabby has the worse case scenario for sure. I hope cfs is right. Here's a secret: I am seriously thinking about switching to being a Huckabee fan.

Paul Champagne: Crabby always leaves something on which to ponder! He's a "hoot"!...my blogging pardner!

tapline: Thanks for your thoughts. To make an intelligent decision (if there is one) I need all the input I can get. It's early, but I've even threatened "not to vote"! Spouse said I would if he had to "hawg tie and drag me to the polls".

Dorky: You shouldn't have given in so quickly! At least we all could have had our "morning jolt of laughter"! That's more than we're getting right now....

a little revolution: Your secret is safe with me and only a few hundred others.(I don't have a very large reading community!) But your 'secret" surprises me!! I'll keep reading your blog to see if I can decipher the "whys" of your decision.

Crabby's scenario of the president and vp both at room temperature is a bad scenario but it could happen [and then what are we going to do with president Nancy Pelosi at the wheel?]. With everything that is happening around us we need to be prepared for a worst-case scenario and that is why the post of the SPEAKER of the House is important. We had a BAD Speaker on the GOP man Dennis Hastert, and we have a BAD Speaker on the DEM lady Nancy Pelosi. Have a productive day.

p.s. Things are looking better this morning with the fires, I have updated my post.

Reminds me of Kennedy/Johnson ticket. Demographics annoy me.

cfs: Glad you reported back and to hear that things are improving.

This post was done in fun through the political nuances of the daughter. But it does bring to mind the responsibility of the voter to elect the best people possible.

buffalodickdy: It's funny. I never once thought about Kennedy-Johnson throughout this whole discourse. And I remember how upset we all were. You're right. Time to move on to something else!
Thanks for the visit.
