While We're Sleeping....

Here it is Sunday morning, December 9, and Butch and I are here alone. It's funny (strange) what events take place in one's life, at the blink of an eye. This reminds me of Kenny Chesney's song "Don't Blink". If you do, life is passing you by.

On Friday night, December 7, we went to bed with the plans of taking a day trip on Saturday back to the South Plains for a wedding reception. I was busy, busy all day, doing the important things around here, to get ready for the trip.

I let the whole day pass without even thinking about what day it was...Pearl Harbor Day.

During the night, hubby began to have some problems related to his kidneys...up and down, up and down, up and down. By yesterday morning, he was worn out from being up most of the night and running a low grade temp. Of course, being a week end, not a doctor could he see except by going to the ER of the county hospital, 12 miles away.

I drove him to the hospital, thinking they would do a urinalysis, give him some medicine, and send him home. Nope! Things just aren't that simple anymore. After a CBC and urinalysis, it was found that he had a full blown kidney infection. The doctor ordered a room for him right then so they could begin an antibiotic drip.

Now, as I said, I'm sitting here meditating about all the women who were sitting alone on December 8, 1941, while their men were defending our nation. Life is funny-strange and God is full of surprises!

And much of the time, when changes take place, they happen when "we're sleeping." (or blinking!)

Another change is the weather. Now that hubby is 12 miles away, the temperature has dropped from 75 degrees to 28 degrees and we're in a winter ice alert. The streets are covered with a layer of thin ice as I write. God will just have to be my driver as I travel back and forth to the hospital.

At this posting, I feel like most of my busy stuff has come to a halt. And, in the big scheme of life, it matters not!

Blessings to all....

You’re right, all those things matter not…, in the face of what really matters... Praying he gets better soon! :-)

Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger

I believe in the sun even if it isn't shining. I believe in love even when I am alone. I believe in God even when He is silent.

Just pray for a tough hide and a tender heart.

Prayer is kind of like calling home every day.

Prayer is when you talk to God; meditation is when you listen to God

You know how kids are when they are hurt...they keep their hands over the boo-boos so you can't see them or treat them. As adults you know they have to let go so your can help them and make them feel better...but sometimes the biggest job is prying those fingers away.
That is the way we are sometimes with the hurtful things in our lives...we are so busy "holding" on to them, that we don't give our faith and God the chance to do his work...because we "think" we know better.
Now asked straight out who could handle it better, us or God...we would think it was a silly question, God, of course. But WHAT do our actions say? And what is the benefit of worry?? And what does it tell our children about the faithfulness of God to his people...and the covenant he has with us.
