Birds of a Feather...

It's winter.

January 25th.

It's supposed to be cold and barren looking.

Though, for some reason, trees and vegetation look very ugly to me right now. Maybe it's because we've had no moisture. It is so dry and brown outside. There has been only one morning this winter where I could use the phrase...."frost on the pumpkin"...where you could see a sparkle on the grass.

The meteorologists keep precipitation in the forecasts but it hasn't happened....yet!

Yesterday, I took my camera outside, determined to take a picture of something pretty and promising. After freezing my buns off, I was about to give up and come back into the house.

And then, I looked up. Imagine that....I looked UP!

Scattered through the branches of our cold, lifeless, pecan tree in the back yard were doves....PRETTY doves!

Why am I concerned about insignificant things like 'the color brown' in winter vegetation?

Matthew 6:26 (NIV)
"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

The moral of this story? Don't keep your eyes on the ground...you may be missing something by not looking UP!

This time of year in Michigan, all we keep our eyes on is the snowplow in front of us! :)
