A Birthday!

Hannah.

Hannah Michelle.

Our third grand child, our second grand daughter.

When she was born, her dad wanted her to be named Hannah...just in case she was later diagnosed as dyslexic. Frontwards or backwards, her name would always be spelled correctly. That guy is always thinking ahead!!

When it was time for her to enter this world, there was a problem! The umbilical cord had wrapped around her neck and the doctor lost her heart beat. Dr. Dicky in Lubbock, Texas was the delivering physician and is given credit for saving Han's life. He no longer practices in obstetrics but confines his practice to gynocology...still in Lubbock.

Han is the youngest of 3 children. The baby. The princess. The most intelligent child on the Planet Earth. The future curer of all ills....the future Presdient of the United States!

Get the picture?

From birth until about 2 1/2 years of age, we had the pleasure of being around these 3 kids a lot. Dad was in career transition and mom was going to college.

On the afternoon that summer as our precious kids pulled out of our driveway headed for York, Pennsylvania, which was to become their home for the next 7 years, Hannah was looking out the back window of that SUV, grinning from ear to ear and waving good-bye. She didn't have a clue as to where they were going and she didn't care. All she knew is that her family was together, going in the same direction.

That look on her face will forever be etched on my heart.

Hannah and her paternal grandfather share the same birthday....January 11. For years, each one of them would see who could be the first to call on their special day to wish the other a happy birthday. I don't know if they still do this but....I hope so! I always thought this was such a memorable, family tradition.

Years pass. Kids grow up. They become their own individuals and have minds of their own.

Though she hasn't focused on a goal in life, we still have the goals for her that were set when she was a baby....a leader, a changer of the ills of society, an advocate of morality and peace.and a lover of home and family....and, who knows? Maybe still...the future President of the United States!

I will forever claim God's Promise for us all, and especially for Hannah on her Happy Birthday.

"For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Hannah is 20 years old today, January 11, 2008.

Happy Birthday, Han. Your family loves you and God loves you.

A winning smile, right from the beginning~

She displayed self assurance and poise even in her young years.

This is one of her dad's favorite pictures of Han...When she was leaving Jr. Hi, going into High School. He said this picture is the epitome of self-confidence in herself.

One of Han's High School Senior Pictures

This last picture was taken just two weeks ago at our 50th Anniversary Party. What glamour!

Happy Birthday, Grand daughter! Many, MANY happy returns of the day!
