Burn, Fire, Burn...

I thought that taking a few days off from posting on my blog would give me time to gather up some creative fodder.

The only thing of consequence that is remotely worthy of mentioning is a quick trip to Lubbock and Littlefield. Hubs had to take our tax information to our accountant in Littlefield (so we will be eligible for that wonderful 'tax rebate'!) and he dropped me off in Lubbock to visit with my sister.

Sis and I had a great time; talking about everything from politics to what we do for maintaining regularity. She inspired me to begin exercising again. I've posted about it, I think about it, I talk about it to other people, but I just haven't been able to catch that thread of enthusiasm that a regular regime of exercise requires.

Oh, if we only lived near enough to each other that I could be with her on a daily basis! She is enthusiastic (once she catches the thread) and makes a powerful Drill Sergeant! We went to Academy and purchased a "step counter" pedometer with a step goal of 10,000 a day. And, we're also using Leslie Sansome's DVD "Walking Away The Pounds", 5-day workout. My goal, other than losing a few pounds, is just to get to the point of not 'huffing and puffing' every time I leave the computer to go the kitchen for a handful of cookies!

If I could begin to make some progress in that area, maybe....just maybe...I could "catch the thread"of consuming with holy fire that our pastor talked about last night at mid-week prayer service. There were seven people in attendance. (Yes, I wrote the right number....SEVEN!!) The youngest person in the group is about 62. I am next at 68 and the others over 70. (several over 70!)

And here our little pastor (40 years old) was emptying his heart to us about being consumed by the fire of the Holy Spirit. "What would our church be like if it's people were consumed with fire?" When he began his talk, I was thinking , "Boy....he's talking to the wrong group of people!!

We're tired.

Our backs hurt.

Our knees are stiff.

We can hardly stand up and sit down for the praise and worship music!"

But during all this, I (and hopefully the other 6) was reminded that there is no age limit in burning with the fire of the Holy Spirit. If we truly desire this commitment, by next mid-week service, there could be 14 in attendance instead of 7!

If each of us "do what we can do", the fire will spread.

Peace to your household!

I really expected this post to be about the ashes of the Ranch House fire with pics, but boy did it take a different direction!

Now, what's that thread and where do you find it? I NEED IT!

And thanks for giving me sooo much to look forward to in the years to come! hehe

Love you bunches!

Tam: I'm waiting for "the thread" to miraculously appear! Good grief! Why am I so weak?? and...it's best if you don't know about "the years to come". Just ignore the fact that one day you'll be the "senior" generation!! hehe
Love you, too!!

Big the older generation is no place for a SISSIE to be. I'm younger than my walking pardner . She still out walks me, she gets ahead then walks back to me then walks backward telling about 41 yrs. of roadkill.
The fire story all way's reminds me of me of one reason to help my enemies. Proverbs :25:vs.21,22, while reading go on down to vs.24 this is why I'm living in the attic

crabby: Proverbs 25:24
Is that the proverb that talks about 'better to live in an attic than with a nagging wife'? I'll have to check that out!! You'd better be good to that walking pardner of your's!!

UGH! Not the dreaded "E" word, lol. And don't even get me started on regularity, haha!

And how very cool that you have a Daughtry video. I love his music.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog & leaving a comment. I'm very proud of that post, in spite of my hubby's joking. I know I was "putting myself out there" for all the world to criticize, but I'd do the same for God & my family. God, Family & Country. What else is there to fight for?

Exercise is so hard for me too. I wish I loved it. I was doing pretty good at doing a work out video five days a week before getting pregnant. When I first found out I was pregnant I decided to get a pregnancy work out dvd. It was a great idea. I loved it - it was so much easier than my other dvds that it was fun. That lasted four days. Then nausea settled in. Yeah, all my plans of exercising and continuing to count calories flew out the window. :)

Keep up the good work!

inspired, I don''t know about fire, but I do know its still smouldering. In fact, I just went to a play titled "Godspell" and put on by the High School, God is still allowed in school..The light gets a little brighter.....stay well.....

Ms. Mayhem! Isn't it weird how it leaves a "hole" in our daily routine? I'm still in a quandary in deciding if that's "good or bad"! Could be an addiction...

Terry: I know this sounds trite...but...this too shall pass. Exercise is the last thing you should be thinking about right now. Just concentrate on getting over the nausea. I'll be checking on you...

Mr. Tap: Thanks for the encouraging reminder of the 'light getting brighter'. (I would love to see a production of Godspell!)

Came over to say "Hi"! I remember many years ago, our youth pastor couldn't say two sentences in a sermon without quoting scripture. As we were about the same age, and played on the church softball team together, I gave him a little of my "Dutch Uncle" advice. "Pastor Dave, you don't have to quote scripture after every sentence- we believe you know what you're talking about. When we don't believe you, explain it with scripture...

Buff: Glad you stopped by! It makes for a good spritual relationship when you can freely give "Dutch Uncle" (or aunt...lol) advice. Stop back by anytime...

Hey there....about that exercising...I wish I loved it but it is like work to me. I am going to try and do better. My sister (Mary Lu)always inspires me. She goes to Curves and also walks when the weather allows. But I needed to let you know that she had a stroke (a blood clot hit in an artery in the back side of her brain) on Tuesday and I have been at the Covenant Hospital most of the week. I came home to work on Thursday and came back that night. She is going home today and feels so fortunate that she feels good and the only thing that was affected was her eyesite on the right for a couple of days and that hais back. Would you believe that is much better. Would you believe the first questions she ask the Dr. was, "When can I go back to Curves"? Praise God that He is in control and I pray that He will give me the strength and energy to get up off the couch. wilma
