United We Stand...

Peace to your household...

The fires are out.

The firemen are at home.

It is raining.

It started to rain about 10:00 p.m., Monday night. As everyone knows, Monday was March 17, St. Patrick's Day. We've received our Irish Blessing...somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 inches of rain!

While the firemen were out fighting the fires, the surrounding communities united together to give aide in any form that was needed. At the time, food and drink for the firemen was what was imminent. At 10:00 p.m., on the first night of fire fighting, food and drink was being transported to the fire site, supplied by many, many people.

The following story illustrates the strength in unity.

The Father And His Sons

A FATHER had a family of sons who were perpetually quarreling among themselves. When he failed to heal their disputes by his exhortations, he determined to give them a practical illustration of the evils of disunion; and for this purpose he one day told them to bring him a bundle of sticks. When they had done so, he placed the faggot into the hands of each of them in succession, and ordered them to break it in pieces. They tried with all their strength, and were not able to do it. He next opened the faggot, took the sticks separately, one by one, and again put them into his sons' hands, upon which they broke them easily. He then addressed them in these words:

"My sons, if you are of one mind, and unite to assist each other, you will be as this faggot, uninjured by all the attempts of your enemies; but if you are divided among yourselves, you will be broken as easily as these sticks."

United we stand; divided we fall.

All day I face the barren waste without the taste of water,
Cool water.
Old Dan and I with throats burned dry and souls that cry for water,
Cool water.

The night are cool and I'm a fool each stars a pool of water,
Cool water.
But with the dawn I'll wake and yawn and carry on to water,
Cool water.

(Chorus)
Keep a movin' Dan, don't you listen to him Dan, he's a devil not a man
and he spreads the burnin' sand with water.
Dan can't you see that big green tree where the waters runnin' free
and it's waiting there for me and you.
Water, cool water.

The shadows sway and seem to say tonight we pray for water,
Cool water.
And way up there He'll hear our prayer and show us where there's water,
Cool Water.

Dan's feet are sore he's yearning for just one thing more than water,
Cool water.
Like me, I guess, he'd like to rest where there's no quest for water,
Cool water.

IF I HAD KNOWN PEOPLE BROUGHT FIREMAN SNACKS I WOULD HAVE BECAME A FIREMAN.
WE MUST STAND UNITED BUT FOR THE RIGHT CAUSE

dirt farmer: You went a long way back to get this one...

"And way up there He'll hear our prayer and show us where there's water,

Sons of the Pioneers! I'll bet there's not many of my readers that have even heard of them...

(our nation needs a 'cool drink of water')

crabby: You and I unite for the same cause but there are many who will argue this. I can hear it now..."Just why do you think your cause is the right one?" I don't know how we're going to alleviate the division. I'm very concerned about what's to come.
