Short Course in Self Improvement...

Busy.

Too busy.

Mulling over what to get rid of in a too busy life for a retired person.

No time to write creative or original posts for my blog.

Relying once again on a generous, thoughtful friend who sends me things to use "in case of...."

More often than not, I'm finding myself in a situation of "in case of...".

If I would learn to put these rules for a good life to use, it would keep me out of a lot of stressful situations.

Maybe you need to be reminded or maybe, like me, you need a complete short course in self improvement.

Ten Rules For A Good Life
by Thomas Jefferson

☼Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.

☼Never trouble another for what you can do yourself.

☼Never spend your money before you have it.

☼Never buy what you do not want because it is cheap; it will never be dear to you.

☼Pride costs us more than hunger, thirst, and cold.

☼Never repent of having eaten too little.

☼Nothing is troublesome that we do willingly.

☼Don't let the evils which have never happened cost you pain.

☼Always take things by their smooth handle.

☼When angry, count to ten before you speak; if very angry, count to one hundred.

Peace to your household...

That's one mistake I make a lot..!

That's a good one! Am always regretting when I've eaten too much, actually :-)

As always, inspired, your blog is filled with peace. I haven't ever come across a blog like it :-)

I love when I throw things away that I don't need and make room in my house. It feels good to declutter - something I need to more of.

I wish I was a little more like Thomas Jefferson. I can say I have done one thing right on his list.. I have never regretted eating too little.

The longer I post on this blog, the more convinced I am that "For The Love Of Home" was born inside me as a child, waaaay before home computers were ever dreamed of...It took years of "living" and the creation of computers before it came to fruiition. I've always had the desire to keep a journal but never carried it through. I would write for a few months and then destroy what I had written. Now, I see the importance of leaving something of "me" to my children and granchildren. (I wish I had all those destroyed journals back!)Thank you for your words of encouragement and inspiration.

If angry at someone, a good hard punch with a knuckled fist to the side of someones temple usually sorts it out :)

JOKING lol I WAS ONLY JOKING :)

You two think very much alike! It would be dangerous to get you two together. But Hey!, what fun it would be...

2 very good points there for me to remember.

Never buy what you do not want because it is cheap; it will never be dear to you.

Pride costs us more than hunger, thirst, and cold.

Thank you for such a good thought provoking post. I think I needed it.

t.i.m.: I was quite 'needy' myself! It's astounding at the things that slip mind and memory as a person begins to age...talking about myself...NOT YOU!! (lol) Thanks for your visit...
