Could This Become A Habit?

Last week, my first Letter to the Editor was published. I had not planned on EVER writing another one, but circumstances change things.

After the events of last Sunday, I felt the need to write a follow up letter to be published in this week's paper. The only problem is that I didn't get it to the paper in time for this week's publication.

For those of you who may have missed what I'm referring to, there is a link on my sidebar, "The Thompson Families". It will provide updates on the conditions of the young men and information about the families.

The posting of my second Letter to the Editor may be a little premature since it can't be published until next week but it seems that I've picked up a few more local readers than I've ever had. I thought I would give them a "heads up" on what's to come.

Following is the Second Epistle of In_spired:
************

Dear Editor and Citizens of My Hometown,

The past few days have been stressful and heartrending for our community with the accident that involved three of Our Boys. But at the expense of these three young men, the Munday I remember has been displayed through the moving together and outflow of compassion and generosity shown to the Thompson family.

At this writing, it has been not quite 72 hours since we received word of the accident. The warmth, compassion, love, and the desire to be of assistance has been quite evident.

I know that God didn't want this disaster to befall the Thompson family. We don't know why these things happen. But as humans we want to put the blame on something or someone. Why not put the burden of blame on Satan? He's the source of the iniquities of us all.

But our loving God can use these disasters for good, though those most closely affected may not be receptive at the moment. The families affected have months and months ahead of them in caring for Trey and Tyler. There are very young children at stake with needs that 'dad' won't be able to meet.

What will 'we' be doing for this family in weeks to come? in months to come.. Our lives will go on. We have a chance through the experiences of the Thompson families to show our worth. Most certainly, prayers must continue. But there comes a time when feet and hands need to be added to those prayers.

Yes, life must go on. But with the ending of school in a couple of weeks, life will slow down. Let's use this slow down time to re-evaluate our lives and set some worthwhile priorities. Let's continue our ministry to the Thompson families but also, to our community. You've heard the old expression, "The proof is in the pudding" It means that the true value or quality of something can only be judged when it's put to use or tried and tested. The meaning is often summed up as: "Results are what count...it's not how you start, but how you finish."

Munday needs your voice and your actions. Support your service organizations. Support your city government. Support your churches. Support each other. Continue your support of the Thompson families. But above all...support God.

"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
Matthew 25:40
