Early morning, Day Five, VBS 2008.
From Day One, hearts were already softened by the current events of our community. Possibly, that attributes to the emotions of the week. There is no way I can describe the glory that has been shown throughout the week with the association of all the volunteer help and the open innocence of all the children that have been in attendance.
I overheard one leader talking to another. She was saying, "I have cried so much, I don't think I can cry anymore." Judy responded, "Oh yes you can"...and she reminded Melissa of the scripture:
Psalm 56:8 (King James Version) "Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?"
God bottles up our tears, giving us the ability to cry more... of tenderness, compassion, love.
From the beginning, there was one leader who was able to work only two days because of her job as a beauty operator. On Wednesday, she showed up bright and early. I asked her "why aren't you going to work?" Wilma responded..."I decided that these kids are more important than anything". She just moved her morning appointments to the afternoon, extending her day way into the evening. She has shown what it means to "do what you can"! Her attitude has inspired me to be a better person and to "do MORE of what I can".
This is only one example of the sacrifices that have been made this week.
I wish there was someway I could share all the wonderful, inspiring experiences of the week. But it's just one of those times that you would have had to be there to know.
At the end of the day, I will post a few more pictures to my blog but that will be the last of VBS 2008, as far as Love for Home is concerned. But this week will have a dwelling place in our hearts forever.
Peace to your household...

Hi in_spired! How wonderful that you spend so much time with these kids teaching them such valuable character traits and faith. They look great. Taylor is a cutie.
There have been some tears shed this week out of love for these precious children and out of love for our "JESUS". But there have also been "MANY" seeds sown, that I know will grow some wonderful Christians in the days to come!!!!Blessings to you, Carlene
