I Don't Do Lawns!!

I thought I wanted summer to arrive.

Not that I was looking forward to hot, sizzling summer sun; not looking forward to a sun oil drenched body reclining in the sun, drinking thirst quenchers.

All I was looking forward to was some freedom from weekly commitments to give me more time to do some other, age appropriate things. I've been working on a "secret" project for Christmas. It takes an enormous amount of time and, even with the help of my wonderful neighbor, it will take all summer and into the fall to complete this project.

With this task ahead of me, guess what? I already miss seeing my weekly compadres who give of their time and energy in working with the after school children's ministry.

This is the source of my energy! Tammie and Jill are young, energetic, creative, vivacious. And, a most important perk, is that they make me feel the same way.

I've got some adjustments to make in my thinking and use of time!!

We have a tentative trip planned for the second week of July. Don't get excited...we're not planning a trip off the continental United States....not even to another state! But we are planning to go see some dear friends who we haven't seen in a couple of years. More on that subject later.

We've had some much needed rain which means growing grass! NO! I don't do lawns! But it would be easier if I did. It sometimes becomes a major chore to get "you know who" out on the riding lawn mower! There's always a meeting to attend, people to see, places to go, deals to be made....etc, etc.

This is my report in the Life and Times of Retirement. You younger readers, please don't get me wrong! I love it! I'm thankful that God has given us these years of what many of you call.......
boredom!

Eat your hearts out! Pray that God gives you the same opportunity!

We are healthy; reasonably sane; have no peer pressure; have no financial worries; owe no money; have a savings; and, in the event of inevitable trials, we know wherein our strength lies...our true and living God.

Time to get this Monday morning started!

Peace to your household...

It is indeed hot, but we run huge gardens and there's nothing to do but to get out in it. *sigh*

"We are healthy; reasonably sane; have no peer pressure; have no financial worries; owe no money; have a savings; and, in the event of inevitable trials, we know wherein our strength lies...our true and living God." Yep! I could have written that! We are retired too, and far too busy to be bored. :)

God bless.

Ooooo... a Christmas Project that will take all summer? Sounds Big and fun!!! What could it be?! I love Christmas (who doesn't?) but it sure hasn't been on mind since last December.

I understand the grass problem... I like it when its late enough in the year that we no longer have to worry about growing grass. David is so busy with work and school and everything else that our lawn gets neglected too. I remember last summer when three differnt visitors in one week asked me if we needed help mowing our lawn. Sweet, kind folks... we felt so bad. David had to get out and mow after that.

Rained for the third time in a week last night here. I am thankful, but that makes more mowing for me!! BTW, Tracy told me to tell y'all hi when I saw him Saturday in Lubbock.

time management is of the essence for me this summer, too. I stink at it!

It's a pretty sad week when I don't see you sunny face, my friend. At least we have the blogs. But, it sure pales...

I'm loving watching my parents get into the the swing of retirement - Mum is partially there, so is Dad and my stepfather is fully there. Like you though, they are busier than they have ever been before.
