My Rocking Chair

I don't know why.

The old Grandpa Jones of Hee Haw keeps popping into my mind.

"Blues, despair, and agony on me! Deep, dark depression, excessive misery!"

Well, yes. I do know why.

It's because I've let the concerns of the world become more than concerns. They have become an over-whelming worry. Other than things that are going on in the lives of my friends of which I have no control over, whatsoever, I have become a political junky. I listen to all the half truths, full blown lies and innuendoes of the MSM (mainstream media), concerning the nominees for president. I listen to the nominees themselves and worry that voters are not discerning enough to recognize truth from fiction and how many of them really care?

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. -- Romans 8:28

"The real issue in our lives is not God's faithfulness, but ours. The history of God's faithfulness to Israel and to his promises is found in the Scriptures. We can depend and rely on him to do what he promises, despite the apparent circumstances of our lives. The real issue is whether or not we choose to truly love him and live for his purposes when life becomes unbearable and faith becomes hard. This verse is no platitude, but the life-ring of hope for those with gritty faith who choose to persevere when there is no easy reason for doing so...."

Yes, we as Christians need to be concerned and keep working to spread the truth. But to let the concerns develop into full blown "worry" is useless and crippling. That's when we need to 'let go, and let God!' I'm sure you've all heard the expression, "Worry is like rocking. It gives you something to do, but gets you no place!"

It's time for me to get out of the rocking chair.

We all need courage, faith, and character. We don't want to outlive our faith and hope in a living God who cares for us.

And this is my sermon for the day! (possibly for the week!)
Peace to your household...

inspired we have a right to be concerned for this country & world, for we're living in perilous times. This may be the most important election of all times. Though I must remember God is in control all the time.

And a good sermon it is, Inspired.

As a political blogger I keep fighting the good fight, but I can't say I'm really worried. I believe with all my heart that if this country deserves Obama then that is what we will end up with. However, I don't think the majority of Americans either deserve him or want him. Time is the only thing that will tell whether I'm right or not.

I say my prayers and leave the rest up to Him who knows all. I'm just a little ant in the anthill working my butt off to try to help out, not even knowing whether it does any good or not, but at least I'll be able to say at the end of the day that I did my best, and with God's help, that's all any of us can do.

God bless! :)

Nothing like a good sermon, things are the same over here. Apart from putting my X in the box, not a lot more I can do at the moment

O.K. This is my word for today:
"Do not worry about tomorrow, today has enough troubles of it's own." That's my story and I'm stickin to it. wilma
