I need a different display name for my blog. Of late, I haven't been very "inspired". Maybe I should be Un_inspired, Grouch, Ms. Neg A Tive, Dark Shadow, or .....whatever.
Or, possibly, I've just been "thirsty".
There are times and events in everyone's life that suck positivism and inspiration right out of your body. Seems like there has been a lot of that going on lately.
I haven't been blessed with a 'green thumb'. Gardening, household plants, and lawns have never excited me greatly. But, I do have two house plants; both ivies. They were given to me as 'gifts' from one or the other of our daughters...Mother's Day, Birthday, or some other day of remembrance.
I tell you...Ivies have got to be the most forgiving of all plants! I forget to water them for weeks on end. The leaves curl up, turn yellow, begin to fall off. I can give them a drink of water and in a matter of a few hours, the leaves are perking up, new growth is emerging,
That's what happens in my life. I neglect giving myself a drink of water. My soul begins to thirst. I pull away from the relationship with God when things aren't going my way or the way I THINK they should go. I don't go to His Word and search out His words of comfort and hope. So....what happens? My leaves curl up and wither, I turn yellow and I feel life being drained from me.
Know what? God promised that He will never leave us. Hebrews 13:5......"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."(NIV) and in small sips, He gives us a drink of water.
All of this to say, I got a drink of water this morning. Some might say..."awwww, just a coincidence" or "simple minds seek simple pleasures". But, I prefer to call it "God quenching my thirst".
Way back in November, 2005, I posted about "A Bitter-Sweet Day" in the life of our community. There was a community-wide going away reception for our PA at the medical clinic. He had been here for a number of years and was loved and admired by everyone. I trusted him for medical advice as much as I would any doctor.
This is the link for that post:

This morning, I received a blanket e-mail from Mark, giving new contact information for him and his wife, Heather. They have re-located to Iowa. With the information was the address of Heather's new blog.
http://www.markandheathersworld.blogspot.com/
In a very unique way, I (and many others) have been given a contact to a dear friend and health provider.
I pray that it will happen again, in another instance.
Local readers might find this of interest. Let Mark and Heather know that they haven't been forgotten.
Just as I thought I was through with this post, the telephone rang. It was a call from "the rat".( a joke with the s-i-l which would make for a post entry!) He is the ever optimist and "smile-bringer", which of course, was another sip of water for the morning.

With Caller I.D., I knew who it was and got prepared for his greeting,(sometimes he greets us in Spanish!) which was......"Goooooooood Morrrrn-in', Munday, Texas!! (remember the old Robin Williams movie, "Good Morning, Viet Nam"?)
So, already....before 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2008...I've had two extra sips of water to quench my thirst.
I pray the same for you...
Blessings to your household.

Yep...crabby, I knew that didn't look right but at that moment, I couldn't think of anything else. When I read your comment, I went back and did some editing...HOPEFULLY before "the rat boy" read it. He would have been disappointed in me! I've been trying to tell everyone "my mind is slipping a cog"...
I wish I had as much faith in myself as you do for me. Guess that's what friends are for...the encouraging and lifting up.
Good morning, hon. I think you should keep the name "Inspired" because even when you're not feeling very inspired, you seem to be more inspired than a lot of people. :)
Thanks, Gayle. You've become another of my 'encouragers'. Thanks so much. I do appreciate your input into my blog. Have a great weekend!
