Third and Final Act

What I share with you on Munday, Texas: My Hometown is strictly my personal feelings about my love and aspirations for my town. The area of politics has never been ‘my cup of tea’. I am not politically oriented, nor is my blog…until recently. Every day that passes, I see the influences of politics in the rural areas of our country. In times past, we were so isolated from the views of the world, all that was really a concern for our little towns was home, family, church, and whatever forms of entertainment that could be created. With the influx of modern technology, the world is at our fingertips via the click of a button.

Each day that passes, I can see the influence of our politicians and Hollywood “would-be” politicians upon the young people…and, especially the Hollywood/Musical celebrities. Yes, I’m a staunch American and believe in the rights set forth by our Founding Fathers…and the right of Freedom of Speech. The Cindy Sheehans, the Jane Fondas, and the Britney Spears’, and the Natalie Maines’ of our country have the right to believe and say what they wish. Then that comes down to myself…I have the same right.

Through the years, since the ill-fated Viet Nam war, I have seen the hurt and disgust generated by the antics of Jane Fonda. She created so much hatred in the post-Viet Nam era. There are Veterans, to this day, that loathe the ground upon which she walks. If you wish to read her most current hog-wash click on to:

There is nothing of her political views to which I agree, but she has made one statement in her book “My Life So Far” to which I totally agree:

“It all began as I very intentionally prepared for my sixtieth birthday. Whether we care to admit it or not, (and I'm a strong advocate for admitting) sixty marks the start of our third and final act unless we live into our hundreds….”

I’m pretty well past being sixty, but, in my third and final act, I’m ready to do what I can, and say what I can in support of “what’s right and Godly”. My prayer is that God will give our young people the wisdom of discernment in the rights and wrongs of our society and the courage to stand up and rebel against the wrongs. "Satan is hard at work and his schemes are becoming more ingenuous. The darkness of his work has shrouded our schools, our communities, and is even trickling into our churches." Check it out on:

As I related in my previous post, I’ve always been a “live and let live” kind of person, believing that one day there might be a world of peace. I was drawn to Mattie’s poems because I’ve had the same child-like philosophy. We all need to have a portion of dreaming of the perfect world, but not to the extent that we shut out reality. It’s time to get ourselves into the dirty world and do what we can to clean it up. I suspect that most of you reading this are of senior citizen age. The best weapon we have is our mouths and the influence we might possess over our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We must persevere!

God Bless until next post!

Deep East Texas Piney Woods? Why...that could be the same person I know whose blood runs thick with patriotism and love for our country! If it's the same person, you sure are lucky to have him for a friend!
