Dinner-Theatre!

Tuesday night, our Keep Munday Beautiful organization, affiliate of Keep Texas Beautiful, hosted a Dinner-Theatre Benefit for the restoration of the old rock church. This has been a pet project for the organization for the past year. There are plans to make this into a community theatre to house many functions of the community, especially in the areas by which the talent of many citizens can be utilized. Our community has been blessed by the musical and theatrical talents of so many of our people. Munday had its own live theatre group 100 years ago. The efforts of Keeping Munday Beautiful will restore this important link to our community's history.

The evening began with a delicious meal prepared and served by many volunteers. I have no idea how people were involved in this effort. I tried to get pictures of many of the 'waiters' and 'waitresses' but they were moving so quickly that the pictures turned out to be one big blur. I happened to catch some of the 'servers' filling the plates. And, a picture of Perry waiting for a tray of plates to be served.

The people had such an enjoyable time as you can see by the following two pictures. This young woman is our new Chamber of Commerce manager and what an outstanding job she's doing for the improvement of our town!

After the meal, the One Act Play State Qualifier, presented "The Cripple of Inishmaan". The performers will travel to Austin this Saturday, May 5, in competition for State honors. They have made us proud just by qualifying for state competion. We wish them the best!
And the talented instructor/director of the UIL One Act Play is Mrs. Karen Longan who happens to be my neighbor!! She's also the mother of the Chamber manager, Kacy Longan Latham.

We are extremely proud of the many people who have a desire to make our community a better place to live and who have a 'heart' for 'home'. But in comparison to the number living here, this group is small. There are many who just reside here, with no interest in what's going on around them. It's our desire to develop interest and get these people involved. This seems to be a bigger project than getting out and gathering up a few thousand dollars to help with improvements!

Oh well....such is the life and times of volunteer groups! Persevere!

Thanks for dropping by! Yes, I read about your fund raiser on your blog and the condition of being a CF! I've been there and done that. It ceases to be fun when you get tired and worn out. But occasionally, I still find myself 'caught up' in CF-ness!

Now the fun begins when those who read this comment wonder "what the heck is CF?"
