...a lot like Christmas!
Last night, citizens of my Hometown braved the cold and supported our businesses in the annual Christmas Open House. It was cold, but thankfully, there was no falling moisture and no wind. It was a perfect, crispy cold night for the opening of the Christmas Season.
Here in the Bible Belt of North Central Texas, we still celebrate the traditional Christmas....music, Christmas trees, Nativity Scenes (on the city hall lawn!) and greetings of "Merry Christmas! I love you!!"
The streets were beautifully lit and decorated and the warm, fuzzy feeling that the Season brings was prevalent in all that you met.
One business that I want to focus on in this post is that of our local flower/gift shop that I posted on last year. And to clarify this post, one that I've previously done on the closing of our drugstore.
The building that previously housed our drug/gift store has been empty all this time. This year, our Perry, has expanded his flower shop business to include a separate business of gift items, utilizing the vacant building. His grand opening was last night....and what an opening it was!
It was every bit as awesome as had been anticipated. Perry does nothing that is not awesome and breathtaking!
The two or three pictures (which turned out to be 6) that I'm posting doesn't do anything justice but will at least give this post some color and a holiday air. (This could be the only Christmas post I get done!!)
There will be a follow-up post on a couple of book signings that were going on during the festivities!
A holly, jolly time was had by all!!
The head wear of the season!

Just one of many decorated trees!

No words needed....

Inspired the pictures are pretty. I am still just like a little kid for I do Love Christmas. But I really need to focus more on Jesus is the reason for the season
Wow. That is beautiful! I bet they do good work.
I'm glad to hear that a hole in the community has been filled. I think one of the saddest things to see is an empty shop which has been part of the community for so long. Good luck to Perry with the new venture. It's great to see all the Christmas set up beginning.
You know what your comment about the Bible Belt reminded me of? At work one of my close friends is a Muslim Lady (she is probably breaking tons of rules when she hugs me)! She loves our Southern State and how we pray at our government job anyway! She comes to the work Christmas Party and takes part in the white elephant exchanges and everything. Not everyone out there is so uptight that they fall over dead when they say they believe in Jesus Christ! Long Live Christmas! Long Live Towns who don't care what anyone says and put up the nativity scene on the lawn!
A blessed birthday to you, inspired...! You've lived a life worth living *which just means more good than bad, I'd think ;-) *... Thanking God for your life today, and offering up a prayer for you :- ) God bless you!
Well,,,,praise the Lord......Christmas celebrated in Public.....Pray it is allowed to continue. Elsewhere, it has been discontinued. I think more from hearing about law suits and all the rest of the PC has turned off some of the communities. They couldn't afford to fight it......stay well.....
cfs: I'm afraid we're going to expend muchos dolares also!! But maybe we'll recover! Thanks for the visit!
crabby: you're not alone...we ALL need to focus more on the reason for the season!
janie: we have some of the best in our town!
tim: Thank you for the good wishes for our town. Our community is known for "pulling together".
Hey, Rev! Loved your account of your Muslim friend. We need to hear more stories of that nature! Thanks!
eve: Thank you for your sweet comment. I can always count on you to make me feel warm and fuzzy. Thank you for your prayer. And blessings to you...
tapline: I shudder to think of the time it may come. And it may be nearer than we think. Thanks for your comment...
