Feng Who?

Mental Feng Shui, as I understand it, is a Chinese philosophy of life.
.
Feng Shui (pronounced "fung shway") examines how the placement of things and objects within it affect the energy flow in your living environment, and how these objects interact with and influence your personal energy flow. Your personal energy flow affects how you think and act, which in turn affects how well you perform and succeed in your personal and professional life. Feng Shui affects you every moment of the day — whether you're aware of it or not.
.
Do I understand this philosophy? The answer is a resounding....NO! So, why am I posting this? Simply because these concepts of Feng Shui are concepts, that if adhered to , would make us all a happier and more contented people....regardless of the origin.
.
A friend e-mailed this to me, and I felt it was worthy of posting.
.
ONE. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
.
TWO. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.
.
THREE. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
.
FOUR. When you say, 'I love you,' mean it.
.
FIVE. When you say, 'I'm sorry,' look the person in the eye.
.
SIX. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
.
SEVEN. Believe in love at first sight.
.
EIGHT. Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.
.
NINE. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
.
TEN. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.
.
ELEVEN. Don't judge people by their relatives.
.
TWELVE. Talk slowly but think quickly.
.
THIRTEEN. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, 'Why do you want to know?'
.
FOURTEEN. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk
.
FIFTEEN. Say 'bless you' when you hear someone sneeze.
.
SIXTEEN. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
.
SEVENTEEN. Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.
.
EIGHTEEN. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
.
NINETEEN. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
.
TWENTY. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
.
Number TWELVE is the Feng Shui rule that hits a nerve with me....talk slowly but think quickly!
.
Number ELEVEN....my dad could have worked on this one. "NO! Absolutely not...you can't date (so and so)! I knew his grand daddy and he wouldn't look me in the eyes when he talked to me! You can't trust anybody that doesn't look you in the eyes!"
.

How about you? Which one makes an impression on you?

I like 1 and 17. They both really strike a chord with me.

My favourite piece of Feng Shui advice is to keep your toilet lid closed so you don't flush all your money down it. There are so many reasons to do it, but money would be the last :)

Number 16- I've made mistakes in my life, but not alot of them twice! I'm fond of saying; "I can be a little slow, but I'm not stupid"..

Ooo... so many of these are lessons I need to learn!

> TWO. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.
Very true. *although, when not being impulsive, I can't bring myself to think about a long-term commitment at all. Huge decision *in the first relationship I was in, we got into it 'cos my CF teacher caught us holding hands and told us we'd have to tell my parents; we hadn't decided whether to be together, but since my parents said 'yes' - after all, i had to turn it into a 'obtaining blessing' session; i couldn't very well have said 'it was an accident';-)

> THREE. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
I DO tend to sleep all I want *and as a result, end up missing classes* sometimes it’s worth the sacrifice, but yes, it’s nice to have slept early the night before and wake fresh

> FOUR. When you say, 'I love you,' mean it.
The thing about this is that there are many kinds of love. So in that sense, one can mean one of the kinds, at least… *smiles*

> FIVE. When you say, 'I'm sorry,' look the person in the eye.
Good reminder. Saying sorry is incredibly hard for me *grins*

> SIX. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
More wise words. Am remembering how my dad said that if I was still in the same frame of mind for 5 years, I could marry anyone *I just hope he remembers that now, and that the person I might want to marry can wait 5 years!*

> NINE. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
Yes, for those who’ve been hurt, and put a lot in without getting much back, that’s a much needed lesson. I asked my best friend that day, if she doesn’t think twice before putting all her effort into something that might not work out *she does handicraft and stuff, and I was considering making some cards for a friend* She replied that I shouldn’t think that way, and that her only thought when making these time-consuming tokens of love was that ‘at least I’ll bring a smile to their face for one moment’.

> TWELVE. Talk slowly but think quickly.
Hahaha…. I MUST remember this… ! :-)

> THIRTEEN. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, 'Why do you want to know?'
Good one! I never know how to answer ;- ) *will try this one somday.. am sure it’ll leave them feeling a little discomfited ;-)*

> FOURTEEN. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk
*Nods*

All wonderful lessons, inspired… :-)
