Blogrolls, Garbage Trucks, and Dead People....

Too often I let other people's output of garbage change my mood and direction. I can be going along, everything just hunky-dory, doing my thing when all of a sudden, everything goes to pot!

Several weeks ago, I removed the blogroll from my sidebar. I did this because of someone (or several someones) dumping garbage into the comment section of my blog. You would think that an insignificant, do-nothing blog like mine, wouldn't attract ugly, vile comments.

This is why I have the comment approval option on my blog. I had much rather have your comments posted immediately, especially if I'm away from home and don't receive notice right away.

I removed the blogroll because I didn't want (whoever or several whoevers) to go to your homes and trash them with inane, tacky comments; maybe they wouldn't have, but I didn't see any reason to take a chance.

I'm not good at dealing with this sort of thing. Maybe I should go ahead and post the anonymous comments (of course, they're ALWAYS anonymous!) and let some of my dedicated readers/blogger friends deal with them.

While we were gone, I visited with my sister and she was telling me about a woman she works with who is so insecure in herself that she goes about dumping her inadequate-driven behavior on others...making everyone uncomfortable and leaving them with a "yuck" feeling towards the woman.

I read a little story one time about garbage trucks.

"Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it. And if you let them, they'll dump it on you.

When someone wants to dump on you, don't take it personally. You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. You'll be happy you did."

If you're observant, you can begin to see garbage trucks; just like in the movie "The Sixth Sense", the little boy said, "I see Dead People".

Well, I'm practicing watching for "Garbage Trucks." I see the load they're carrying. I see them coming to drop it off. I'm trying not to make it a personal thing; I just smile, wave, wish them well, and I move on.

This is much easier for me to do with real live people that I can see, but in the virtual world of blogging, it ain't so easy.

With the help of other bloggers, I have built an awesome blogroll of some of the most interesting people a person could ever want to read; subjects ranging from the utmost in Godly Inspiration to a daily dose of humor....and everything in-between.

Interested in politics? I'm in touch with some of the most informative political bloggers on the web.

Interested in recipes and cooking? Buffalodicky can tell you all about it.

Interested in home life and children? I've got the sources!

One day soon, with the cessation of the garbage trucks in the life of my blog, I'll slowly begin adding my blogroll again. In the meantime, I have all of you in my favorites and read as often as I can.

And, in my daily life, I'm going to be on the watch for 'the garbage trucks'!

Don't get hit by a garbage truck!!

inspired, I'm so sorry that you are being treated to garbage. You do not deserve that. I seem to know so many people that is happening to at the moment, and it is just so pointless. I feel sorry for the people with such empty lives. Thank you for protecting all of us on your blogroll.

There are a lot of those people out there with the nickname You gave me, maybe I can head them off since I drive the garbage truck.
I parked my little truck next to the dumpster . My truck & dumpster both were dumped .

Thanks for the post. I fully understand, I live in San Diego surrounded by a bunch of garbage dumpers [NOT good neighbors]. But in a couple of months things will change. Have a productive Texas week.

Sometimes I wonder if the garbage dumpers in my life even know they are bringing everyone else down. It must be miserable to be that negative all the time. I try to remember to pray for them (as I run the other direction).

Some of the junk people leave in comments is just amazing. Absolute trash. I've thought about moderating comments myself but decided against it. When they leave a comment I just make fun of them.

I know exactly what you mean by comments. Even though I know these people do not "know" me...it drove me crazy!

I had one troll who accused me of being racist. While this was the most puzzling of the insults...my blog is almost completely about my kids and NONSENSE...it hurt my feelings the most!

Living in the deep south, that is a hot button issue and it cut me to the quick! However....I had to remind myself of the "garbage truck" rule, reassure myself that talking about my children and other nonsense does not, in fact, make me racist, and remember who I truly am to move on!

BUT...it hurts....it shouldn't....but it DOES! I don't need to be on your blogroll...just keep visiting me! :)
