You may not be familiar with the tele-evangelistic preacher, T.D. Jakes. He's not one of my most favorite people to listen to/watch but I do think this message has some valid thoughts that of which we all need to be mindful.
There are many things in all our lives that are detrimental to our service in our localities and our contentment in life.
Read and see if you can find a couple of thoughts that you can let go of in 2008.

There are people who can walk away from you.
And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone.

When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left. The bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19]

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay.

Let them go.

And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead. You've got to know when it's dead.

You've got to know when it's over... Let me tell you something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay.

Thanks for the good post, very timely because right now I have some issues that I must - and I will - let go. I had to do a search on T. D. Jakes because I have never watched this man on television. Have a fine TEXAS weekend.

Inspired, While I agree to a certain extend with your TD Jakes analysis, "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak". This analegy fits me to a tee. I was worring about a situation that I could not resolve and my Christian wife, God Bless Her, said "I prayed about it and it is in God's hands now, so just put it from your mind, I have". Her faith is much stronger than mine and I lean on her more than I should. Butttt...stay well......

This is why "letting go" can rarely be done in one's own power. Your wife has done her homework...putting it in God's hands and letting Him do battle. You're one lucky man to have her...

I think I know you well enough to know that you don't let too much 'stuff' burden you. That's good! You're way ahead of a lot of people who let 'stuff' eat at them for years and years. Apparently, you don't have the need to "let go"! We that do, envy you!

I liked that! I do enjoy Jakes, every so often. I even have a videotape of one of his series.
I also enjoy Pastor Hagee, but don't see him regularly, either.
