What a difference shopping on-line has made in my life...fewer trips to the city, less stress as to what gift to buy; will the recipient like it? Will they immediately exchange it for something else?
I absolutely and irrevocably love the idea of shopping gift registries.
In November, I posted about a couple of weddings we attended. The first was our grandson and the next one was the grandson of a friend. When we received the invitations, the addresses of the various gift registries were listed.
The Daughter 1 happened to be here one weekend, and I decided to take advantage of her wisdom about choosing just the right gift for the little couple in Austin. Being the practical person that I am, I always want to select linens, dishes, cookware, etc. etc.
Daughter 1 intervened and said, "NO!, Mom select one of the most unusual gifts in the registry. If they hadn't wanted it, they wouldn't have made the selection in the first place. Choose something that will be an unlikely purchase of other buyers."
So, together, we looked through the gifts and Daughter 1 decided on a pair of folding bed trays.
FOLDING BED TRAYS!! Who in their right mind would choose these for a wedding gift? With both of the trays in use, who would there be to make breakfast to put on them? All kinds of silly questions....
Oh, well...folding bed trays it was.
Ordinarily, within a month after an event (wedding, graduation, baby shower, etc.) we receive a little thank you card for the gift. Not that I'm hung up on "thank you's" but I do like to know if the gift was delivered.
November passed. December passed. I began to wonder if the gift had ever made it to its destination. And then, like a lot of other things, I forgot to even think about it.
Day before yesterday, we received the most unique, cutest thank you note we have ever received.
And, yes....the bed trays found their home! Daughter knows best!

I do concur with your "I absolutely and irrevocably love the idea of shopping gift registries." I like the idea and we first used this method in mid 2006 during our son's wedding.
Have a productive Texas weekend.

I voted.
That's really cool! PS - how do you say her name?
