Monday Musing

Since I didn't post a Sunday Sermon yesterday, here is a Monday Musing...the muse generated by a daily subscription I receive through Heartlight.org.

Greatest mistakes have been made in haste, when not allowing a little prayer time to consider what is going to be done or said. After experiencing results of 'doing it on my own', I invaribly question, "Why is it that I think I'm so smart?"

Discretion and understanding are acquired through learning and experience but they are also a gift from God. While it would be convenient for us, and many times a 'quick fix', this gift doesn't come on demand. It comes from patiently seeking, trusting, and waiting on the Lord's guidance and from a deep desire to live for Him as a person of character.
Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.
-- Proverbs 2:11 (NIV)

Oftentimes, I become more of a "character" than a person of character just by not following some basic spiritual rules. I find myself "playing to the trend of the day" rather than being a person of discretion, understanding, and integrity.

In today's world, I find myself caught up in hurry, hurry, hurry...got to do this, got to do that; giving in to this temptation of haste and not searching out the path to integrity.
Will I ever learn, or will I go to my grave saying "teach me, O Lord"? At the rate I'm going, I will still be saying....."teach me".

"Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.
Psalm 119:33" (KJV)

tim: Thank you for another visit. I don't think we ever get through learning until it is said..."well done, my good and faithful servant."

tap: No...it didn't come from "nowhere". It's God-breathed from your heart. Thank you for your visit and comment.
