Roadkill of Our Life

Peace to your household...

Roadkill? What a gross subject! But the older I get, I find there are many gross subjects that relate to our lives. Read on to see how this gross subject relates to my life.

Hubs and I don't talk much when we're traveling. He does the driving, I do the napping.
Or, we get lost in our thoughts and go miles and miles, thinking about....whatever it is we're thinking about.

About the most conversation that goes on is...

"Do you need to go to the rest room?" (uh-uh)

"Would you like a cup of coffee?" (uh-huh!)

"Crops look good." (ummmm...)

"The wind is getting up". (uh-huh)

And, occasionally, when we approach roadkill, it's....

"SKUNK!"
or
"WILD HOG"...but it's a small one!"
or
"RABBIT"!

Yesterday morning, we made a trip to get my new computer glasses. It was a relatively short trip, 80 miles roundtrip, but long enough that we were sure to come upon a dead carcass on the highway. Sure enough....
"SKUNK"!

I grinned to myself and began to think how all this intelligent conversation relates to our lives.

As Christians, we go through our daily lives leaving 'roadkill' along the way....unintentionally, of course, and many times unadmittedly. We leave hurtful words, impatience with our loved ones and friends, sometimes untruthfulness in the form of little white lies (But God! It's just a small one!), vanity and greed...and as many others as I've already named.

We clutter up our highways of life with all kinds of roadkill and then we rely on God to reach down and clean up the mess that it creates.

The wonderful thing about all this is that God does just that....upon our sorrow and repentance of leaving our mess on our highways, he will clean it up for us.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
1 John 1:9

"He does the driving, I do the napping." Have you been in the car for my road trips too?

I like this post - more food for thought
