Make Someone's Day Today...

"You can make someone's day today." -- How often do you slow down to really strive to be an encourager of others. We often get so busy and caught up in ourselves that we tend to overlook the needs of others around us. We certainly ignore their spiritual needs, but we also often ignore other needs that are right under our noses.

One thing that we all can use more of is encouragement. I want to strive to daily look for some way to be an encourager of someone else. If we just slow down a bit and think about it, we can find something positive in others in our lives for which we can thank them or praise them in some way. That always uplifts your spirits, right? So why not be an encourager to others.

Barnabas is one character of the New Testament that is known for being an encourager. What a great trait to be known for by others! Wouldn't it be great to be known by those around you as an encourager? Why not look for some way to encourage someone each day along your way?

I believe that is a great principle included in the command we see in Hebrews 10:24 where it says, "And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works," (from Holman Christian Standard Bible®)

You can even encourage someone you don't know. Why not watch for some way you can be an encourager today?

I really like this post today. I've actually been thinking along these lines a bit today. It is so easy to focus on the negative and criticise someone for not doing something properly. It is much harder to stop, and take the time to notice the effort that has been put into something, and the thought behind it. Encouragement is so much more helpful, and definitely kinder.

There are way to many negative people in the world, if only they could re-phrase some of the things they say in a more positive way, it would make so much difference.....

Fanks for you good thoughts :)...

Can u encourage someone while ur being whiney(LOL) We all need a encouraging word at sometime in our life . At times we get caught up in our own little world and overlook someone that needs a kind word or a helping hand.

GOD IS GOOD,"ALL THE TIME"

tim: You're so right! I don't know why negativism seems so much easier than to be positive...unless it has to do with forming habits. A habit of being negative could certainly be changed with a little work!

marmitetoasty: I find myself saying "negative" words when that's not what I mean. For example: "I've *got* to do something or other" when what I mean is "I have the privilege or opportunity to do...whatever". In a lot of cases, a person just needs to be aware of how they phrase their thoughts.

crabby: Maybe when I get whiney, it means I need some "encouragement"!!

Negativity breeds negativity. I think sometimes we forget that and get into a negative cycle and if we are not careful, we will make those around us negative too. It is just best to start the day positive and encouraging and it is amazing how much better your day will go.

janie: I have a feeling you've heard (or read) this post before because I can see that you practice 'encouragement' through your comments! Glad you stopped by...

neecie: Yes, in looking back at times in my life, I can see where negativity can be "prolific". (lol) Being in your profession, you understand the word prolific!!

inspired, You are so right....Sometimes as we try to read through what is happening around the world and maintain a positive approach. It is very next to impossible. It is so much easier to tell it like it is and not to look for the good in something. I agree with your post wholeheartedly, but fail to follow through in life's challanges....stay well....
