For Whose Glory?

When I started keeping this on-line journal (almost three years ago) I had been inspired by another writer way up in Washington State to write about the love I have for my hometown. "Should I not be concerned for that great city?" — Jonah 4.11

At the time I began writing, I had already seen evidence of deterioration but I shut my eyes to it and thought it would get better.

It didn't. It hasn't. It has worsened.

I have struggled with my feelings for the past three weeks...ever since
The Accident.

People from coast to coast, have been praying and sending well wishes to the Thompson families. We have prayed for God's Glory to be manifested through this terrible ordeal. We have prayed for the recovery of these two precious brothers. We have all acknowledged that God is the creator of all and that He controls His creations.

Since this is the Truth as God's Word states, then He is in control of the situations in this little town. It has been revealed to me that my desires for Munday have been for the wrong motive, or at the very least, not acknowledged. I have wanted moral values, integrity, and godliness to be reclaimed by Christian people. But what has been my motive?

*To make our town the best it can be.
*To fill the churches again.
*To encourage others to move back home.
*To restore our historic buildings.
*To make all students in our schools equal, in whatever their choice of extracurricular activities.
*To have a dedicated law enforcement.
*To have city and county leaders who have all our interests at heart.
*To reinstate the policy of majority rules.

All of these are worthy and noble motives but what I haven't focused on is for all this to take place for God's Glory...not for the glory of Munday; not for the glory of the many great dedicated people who live here and work so hard, but for the Lord God Almighty...the reason for our existence.

"Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying:

"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come."

Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:

"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being."

Revelation 4:8-11 NIV

Just like the Brothers Thompson, Munday is ailing. But God knows, and is in control. He can heal.

People...come before God in reverance and recognize His Holiness, asking him for the recovery of whatever burden you carry.

Peace to your household...
