Have Guns...Ready For School!

Harrold, Texas is a small, rural community not far from our small, rural community...about 75 miles NE.

We were all surprised of the recent decision of that school board to allow teachers to carry hand guns.

This is the first school in Texas to make this decision.

It wouldn't have been as surprising if it had been a Dallas school, a Houston school, or any number of the larger school districts.

But Harrold??

How many schools will follow suit?

Just another indication of the deterioration of our nation.

I'm In favor of everyone ,but me & a convicted felon carrying a weapon . I do not need a weapon on me for I might use it when I didn't need it. If I know I need one I'll have one anyway.

crabby: I don't believe a word you wrote! You wouldn't hurt a flea if it was crawling up your leg! Well....on second thought, I can think of a couple of instances where you might hurt someone! I think we've discussed that issue before...

queenie: Yep...it's a sad day when school officials feel like they need to resort to such action. I guess it's the time in which we're living..

Oh, no! What are they thinking?

Oh my goodness. I read that and just cringed. Do they have any specific reason for wanting to do it?

tammie, janie, thisisme:

The little community of Harrold has no law enforcement and is 30 minutes away from any law enforcement facility. Located on a major highway, the thinking is that the school would be a prime target for ill-doers. That's the only reason I know...

Hi, Inspired. This may shock many of your readers, but because of all the school shootings by deranged students that have been happening I'm all for it... if the teachers who carry are very-well trained in the use of firearms.

I hate the fact that it's necessary, but something has to be done. If kids carrying rifles intent on shooting innocent teachers and students understand that an armed teacher will take them down it just might curb their insane desire to kill innocent people.

All of this is what happens when the main stream media shows the picture of a shooter over and over again, gives out the name of the shooter and dwells on his personal life and the reasons he did what he did for weeks on end. It's ridiculous. Kids can not tell the difference between being famous or infamous, and if they can, they don't care. Copycat killings happen solely because of the MSM. They need to broadcast it, yes... but not to the extent that they do, and their is no need to continue showing the perpetrator's picture long after he has been caught or killed.

Oh, Gayle, I bemoan the fact that our society has come to this. It makes me so sad. But we're beginning to see the consequences of no enforcement of rules and laws, even in our little community. Thank God, there has been nothing to warrant teachers carrying handguns but, given an inch, many will take a mile. This goes against everything I believe in and want for a Christian community, but yes...something has to be done. We have Christian youth leaders working their hearts out to reach our kids. Some have been reached; many others haven't. Thank you so much for your input.

No, I don't think readers will be shocked...they are just saddened that our society has evolved into one where gun carrying is necessary.

Continue 'pressing on' in your quest of preserving our freedom.
