Technical Difficulties

If any of you have been practicing your skills of observation, you will have noticed that there's 'stuff' from my sidebar that has been removed. I did this out of sheer panic...panic of losing my whole blog.

The other morning, I got up very early as usual and clicked on my blog. To my surprise there was a window that popped up that said that Internet Explorer could not open that site.

I was already familiar with this same message because I had to stop reading one of my favorite blogs because IE couldn't open the site. This has been about 6 months. I still click on it occasionally just to see if the problem has been resolved. It hasn't.

Well....I could just imagine 3 years of my life being shut down. I began to think maybe I had too many 'live' links and widgets on my sidebar, so I began to remove them....one by one. All the awards, the music, the Live Feed, etc.

Come to find out, the problem was with Sitemeter and some technical problem they were having. The problem would have probably been resolved without the removal of all "the stuff" but I decided that the content of my blog was more important than looking at cute stuff on my sidebar or tracking visitors to my blog.

Now, when you click on my blog...what you see is what you get. Nothing extra.

I like to believe that all of you keep returning to my blog to read what is posted, not to look at my sidebar! Bless you!!

Have a great day and peace to your household...

A ADMIRER

My goodness, SiteMeter really screwed up a lot of people's blogs with that little blunder!

I spent about three hours myself trying to figure it out. I thought something was wrong with my IE browser because my Firefox browser worked perfectly. I actually got rid of my IE browser and uploaded another one and that one didn't work either. Finally a dear friend e-mailed me and told me it was SiteMeter. I would have just used Firefox but know that most people only use Outlook Express and wouldn't be able to visit. It's a good idea to keep two different browsers. Firefox actually loads a lot faster than IE anyway and it's free too. IE comes with a lot of possible problems in it, so I don't like depending on it alone.

Anyway, I'm sure that most people are more interested in the fine content of your posts than in your sidebar. :)

anon: Don't get too attached to it. It's about to be changed to something less conspicuous!!

gayle: I've thought about downloading Firefox but it just hasn't been at the top of my priorities. I may have to move it up...

as far as the content of of my blog: aaawwwwww! You're just saying that to keep from hurting my feelings! LOL

DD2: No, I haven't visted Marie yet....so many blogs, so little time! (lol) I should know by now to check your blog when anything comes up. You're always on top of things...and I mean this as a compliment!

I had noticed the problem on a couple of blogs too. Thanks for the information!
