The Glad Game

I'm not proud!

I'll admit it!

I'll never get too old to learn from the grandchildren!

As an afterthought, I gave every member of my family a journal for Christmas. My thought was for each one, at the end of the day, to write the best thing that had happened to them that day. In this time of uncertainty, negativity, and unsettling events, there is always a "best thing" that happens during a day's time. The trick is to tune in and recognize it...sometimes having to use some creativity!

The two youngest grandchildren jumped right on the idea....they already love to write and draw pictures. Not even waiting for the end of the day, they began to write immediately. Then there was a little "eye-rolling" from some of the others. It's one of those "wait and see" things of what will transpire through the journaling.

Five o'clock, a.m., Christmas morning, we were having coffee before the departure of part of the family; Hubs, Daughter 1 and her two grown daughters. Hannah, the younger of the two girls (soon to be 21) shared with us The Glad Game that she plays every night when she's ready to go to bed. It's a great game, and one that is certainly better than counting sheep!

She said that she listed as many things as she could think of for which to be glad, e.g.:

"I'm glad I woke up this morning"

"I'm glad the sun was shining today."

"I'm glad I'm not sick"

"I'm glad Mom just called ONE TIME today" (haha)

"I'm glad....I'm glad....I'm glad...."

Grand-daughter Hannah

Thanks Han....Blessings to you in 2009!

So....I'm passing on to you, my readers, The Glad Game! Whether you write it in a journal or whether you just verbalize, it is an awesome way to end what sometimes can be an uneventful or even tragic day!

Hope your Holidays were memory makers.....Glad Memories!

Peace to your household....

That's a good reminder for me today. Those days that you don't know if there is a thing to be glad about. Kinda like the 'sun'll come out tomorrow game', urrr, that's a song. Never mind!

Juzz sing!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I love the glad game too - I still read my old Pollyanna books where I first learnt about it.

Merry Christmas, Inspired! Sounds like you had a great one.

I read over at Tapline's that you and your hubby have Walt and me beat anniversary-wise by one year and a day, so Happy Anniversary to you too, and may you have many more! As for the "Glad game" - that's easy. Each and every day I grow older I'm just glad to be alive.

I watched the sunrise under a blanket of dark clouds this morning. All that red, orange and pink glow along the horizon. Awesome! I was glad for that too. :)
