Tranquility Lane 2010

The "lane" entering Tranquility.

In the cataclysmic world in which we are living, it is difficult to maintain the Christian teaching of “faith” and keep our lives in perspective.

Or, at least it is for me.
I forget the teachings of the biblical patriarchs and prophets. It’s at these low points in my life that I need to visit my “chosen place” to renew my faith. This special place I have dubbed Tranquility Lane, the home of dear friends. Their home is nestled in the Piney Woods of East Texas. At least once a year, I find it necessary to make the trip to Tranquility Lane just to re-prioritize my thoughts.

It is one of the most meditative environments that a person could possibly be; an environment that puts you slap-dab in the presence of God, our Creator.

And, our friends, Dewayne and Glenda, are the perfect host and hostess; not treating us as company, but treating us as family; we talk when we feel like talking, we nap when we feel like napping, and we meditate when we feel like meditating.

Have you found your place of tranquility? If not, I urge you to find one.

We will never hide or isolate ourselves from the conflicts of the world. Therefore we must find the place to draw near and find rest within our souls.

After I posted this entry last night, the words to an old hymn came to mind. I think they're very appropriate for this post:
"So amid the conflicts, whether great or small, do not be discouraged, God is over all. Count your many blessings, angels will attend; Health and comfort give you til your journey's end."

Lamentations 3:22-24 (New International Version)
22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him."

As I read your words of wisdom and contemplation, I too, am reminded of a hymn and it it "Count your Blessings." "Name them one by one." We all need as you say a place that causes us to step back and take stalk of our lives. I don't do it nearly as much as I should, but God has been good to me and mine of couse as with all others we had had our trials and troubles, but with his help we have overcome and it has made us stronger...Take care,,,God bless and thanks......
