May I Use Your Bathroom?

Have you ever had such a surprise that it just nearly knocked you in a dead faint?

This afternoon, I had one. I suppose it was one of the biggest surprises of my life. I count it as a Gift.

Being Sunday, Homer and I went through our regular routine of Sunday School, Worship Service, Pot Luck Lunch and then for an afternoon nap. He got up, put on his shoes, and told me he was going to Dollar General and would be back in a few minutes.

He walked out the back door and I crawled out of my comfortable chair. My first thought was…”ummm, haven’t been on Facebook this afternoon; I’ll check and see what’s going on. I had a notification that Janie Snelson had written on my wall.

WHAT?

Janie and I comment on each other’s statuses but rarely, if ever, do we message on each other’s walls. The message simpley said:

“Hey, lady. Haven't visited in a while. How are you?”

Still bleary eyed from my nap, I was just asittin’ and astarin’ when the doorbell rang.

“Oh my gosh! Who in the world would be droppin’ by unexpectedly?”

I opened the door and there was a young woman and a man standing there with Homer standing behind them.

“What and who?”

The young woman said “May I use your bathroom?”

Standing there in surprise, I glanced over at the man thinking that it was someone Homer knew that had stopped by.

No….still not a clue.

Then the girl said, “Hi. I’m Janie Snelson”.

Oh my goodness!! If I had been touched with a feather, I would have passed out!

Janie Girl is one of my most ardent internet/blog friends. We’ve been “in touch” through Facebook and our blogs for a couple of years…maybe three. But who’s counting? The experts say that social media “friends” aren’t true friends and they could never be relied upon to be there when you need them; NOT a true statement for all of them, for there are a few connections you make that, I believe, God puts in your life for one reason or another.

Janie Snelson is one of these connections. She has inspired me and lifted me up when I’ve needed it the most.

After Janie and Steve left, we got dressed and went to evening Worship at church. Our pastor’s text was from Philemon 1: 4-7, which I feel is an appropriate prayer for my friend, Janie Snelson.

4 I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers,
5 because I hear about your love for all his holy people and your faith in the Lord Jesus.
6 I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.
7 Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother (sister), have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.(my heart)

I love Janie. She truly has the “understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.”

Thank you for brightening my day!

That JanieGirl and me!
