"Highway 277"

For the past two years (possibly more) there has been a major highway construction between Abilene and Wichita Falls. Munday is 'smack dab' in the center, on US Highway 277. The highway project will create a four-lane highway that will bypass our town. Highway 277 has always gone directly through Munday (where there is a stop-light, I might add!), bringing drivers past our local gas stations, cafes, and other businesses.

Some are fearful that by taking away the traffic, this will be even more devastating to the future of Munday. But this doesn't 'have to be'. If our city and school groups will pull together and unite, having the same goals for our city, Munday will grow and prosper.

Developing from the highway project is a unique structure, the "brainchild" of Michael Ford of the Texas Department of Transportation. On the retaining wall of the overpass is etched an American Flag, with alternating stripes comprised of silhouettes of Munday residents. It is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. This wall, in itself, will be motivation enough for drivers to stop and investigate.

If we play our cards right, seeking God's guidance in each and every play, our future will be great and glorious! God, bless our efforts!!

The two figures in the center of this picture are "your's truly and spouse"
