"Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday!"

Today is a special day in the life of our family. On “this day in history”, 1958...the father of our three oldest grandchildren bounced into the world. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit that after the first scream, one of the attending nurses or doctors heard him say, “Hey! I’ve got a story to tell you.” He always has a story, a joke, some bit of trivia that he just ‘has to share’! Just last night he called and wanted to tell me a joke that he thought was sooooooooo funny! It goes something like this:

A man an his wife were at their retirement reception. The wife got to looking at the floral centerpiece on the table. At close inspection, she saw a genie sitting among the flowers. The genie pops out and announces that each of them will be granted one wish in honor of their retirement. The wife immediately says, “OH! I’ve always wanted to go on a trip around the world! That’s my one wish.” “POOF!” She had two round trip cruise line tickets for around the world.
The genie then asks the man his wish. The husband grins and says, “Well, genie! I’ve always wondered what it would be like to be married to a woman 30 years younger than myself. That’s what I wish for.” “POOF!” He was 95 years old!

He has been a joy in our lives for 29 years. If we had been ‘hand-picking’ a marriage partner for our daughter, we couldn’t have done better. He is ‘true-blue’ and our man! Love you, Al!!
