Saturday, July 29, was another festive day in Knox County Texas. Our neighbor, Knox City, Texas had their 18th Annual Donald Johnson Memorial Watermelon Festival. We loaded up early and drove the 12 miles to the City Park of Knox City. The theme for this event is "There's no place like home." And, I agree wholeheartedly!!
All day there was live music, arts and crafts booths, homemade items for sale, free watermelon slices provided by none other than Johnson Melon Corp., free swimming, food booths, kids activities including a giant slide and bouncer, and rides on the Watermelon Train. There was also a Classic Car Show.
A big hit with the young people was "scaling the wall"! It looks dangerous but with all the belts and cables that are attached, it's safe enough. I watched as the wall was being unloaded and set up. I don't think it's nearly as difficult to scale as it is getting it ready!!

For the older guys, there was "pitching horseshoes!" I never did find out if there was an overall winner in this event. But they sure seemed to be enjoying the game!
I couldn't keep my camera away from the children. I love seeing children out with their parents enjoying a day together. The baby in the back of this stroller had the right idea....catching a few 'zzzz's' between booths!!
Well....so sad! But this will have to be the end of this post. Blogger won't let me upload any more pictures. I'll have to do another post later to add other pictures! Come back later for an up-date on the Watermelon Festival!!
God bless my readers...and God bless Blogger with all their problems!!
