Respectful Bikers

One more drive-by picture before I go on to some other trivial subject.
.
As we were jug-juggling along the highway last week, we came upon a biker funeral procession.
.
Another first!
.
Because we were in the tail of this procession, the only picture I could get was from the rear.
.
I wish I knew the details of a biker funeral. Maybe some of you can shed some light.
.
The procession was escorted by a State Trooper. You can't see them in this picture but there was an American Flag on each bike....of the ones we could see. The procession was very elegant and impressive.
.
Approaching cars on the other side of the 4-lane highway were pulling over to the side in respect for the procession.
.
It makes me proud that Americans (or, maybe it's just Texans who do this) will demonstrate their respect in this manner. Do other states do this?
.

This second picture is when they veered into the left lane to make a turn at the little town of Ralls, Texas.
I meant to check the Lubbock paper to see if I could find an article about it, but my mind slipped a cog. Maybe, if something was printed, I can still find it.
.
.
Just another tidbit in the life of In_spired...

Bikers are some of the most authentic and wonderful type of folks I've ever met. Thanks for sharing this.

Oh, and you've been tagged.

I liked this post and pictures. I read a book about bikers once (Hell's Angels, I think), and have a great deal of respect for bikers; used to dream of being one... :-)

Inspired I read in the Lubbock Journal somewhere in that area along about that time there was a soldier that was killed in Iraq was having a funeral.
The flags I think they may have been a escort for the body.

thanks for your respectful comments concerning the bikers. The whole incident was interesting. I never did find out anything from the paper about them.

Thank you for your information. The thought that the funeral procession was quite possibly one of our military makes it even more special.

Many clubs will do this for one of their fallen. In Michigan, on a Sunday in the spring, a town called Baldwin has a "Blessing of the Bikes". It's a Mass held for bikers and gets a pretty big turn out....
