Early Friday morning, Beautiful Daughter, mother of Len and Ali, suggested we have a garage sale!! Never in my wildest dreams had I even thought of having a garage sale!! I was excited about having all the kids come in for the week-end....who had time for a garage sale? But Daughter took the reins and started to run with it. We quickly put out sign signs around town about an "unadvertised garage sale" to be opening at 3:00 p.m. and closing at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Saturday, we were to open at 7:00 a.m. and close at noon.
Her thinking was that this was a chance for us to get rid of a lot of "stuff". The Thompson Roping Benefit was to be all day on Saturday...many people. She thought there would be a lot of traffic up and down the streets. WRONG! They all stayed out at the rodeo grounds. Though we didn't make many sales, I got a lot of "stuff" out of my storage building and on the way to be donated to the hospital auxillary...The Pink Ladies.
And, by the way, the benefit for the Thompson Family was a great success with donations and purchases in the amount of $39,000. (The last I heard.)

Oh I would of loved to of had a rummage in your sale :)..... we have what are called 'car boot sales' over here, its where ya load ya car up, drive to an advertised field, set up a table out the back of ya car and put all ya junk on it..... everymans junk is another mans treasure :)....

I am married to a pack rat. He's a lovable packrat, but he's still a packrat! I'd have to send him to another state in order to hold a garage sale. :)
Hey, Mel: I'll bet you'd be a lot of fun at one of our garage sales! My husband would LOVE the "car boot sale". He'll probably try it...he's tried everything else! (lol)

Angel: That's the reason we've got so much stuff...too many treasures from other people's junk!!
