I know.
It’s very important to be law abiding citizens. But where do you draw the line…if, in fact, there’s a line to be drawn?
The man I’ve lived with for 52 years is so compliant to the laws of man that:
#1. He will not walk up the down staircase.
#2. He will not enter an exit door, even though it may be wide open.
#3. He will not drive on a one-way street, going the wrong way even though there is no traffic and a few feet on a wrong way would benefit his destination.
To prove my point, I walked into the kitchen and found him sitting at the table scraping the labels off his two prescription bottles. I asked him what he was doing. Of course, his reply was that “it is the law to remove all prescription labels before disposing of the bottles.”
I wonder why some of that compliancy hasn’t rubbed off on me in 52 years.
Just call me a rebel…without a cause.

I have a deep and abiding appreciation for compliant men. It makes it easy to recognize their deviation from compliance as a sign that a wrong needs righting, and not just lazy, self-serving narcissism.

I see nothing wrong with compliance ... I would actually call it "law-abiding"
